BYU vs Ole Miss

We went to the BYU vs Ole Miss football game in September. It was a good game and we had a lot of fun spending time with one of Wes' old roommates from UCLA and his cute family.

The biggest shocker was the tailgating before the game. Mississippi is known for its tailgaiting and I must say there is nothing like it! I can't even describe the intensity, but there were hundreds of tents set up all over and thousands of people partying before (and after even though they lost) the big game.

They had a ton of food and alcoholic beverages and several even had tv's to watch other games before this one started! haha
Notice how everyone is dressed the same. All the men wear kaki shorts with a red polo and the girls wear semi-formal dresses!

The missionaries even made an appearance :)

Chicago

In August, we went to Chicago for an orthodontic conference.
When we weren't learning all about the business of orthodontics, we were touring the city.
We walked up and down the magnificent mile
explored Navy Pier
checked out the bean (way cool)
ate the famous Chicago deep-dish pizza (my first time)
and my husband, being the beach boy that he is, of course found us a beach. So we just had to take our shoes off and walk through it :)
The weather was nice and it was a really fun trip!

Wes and I planned the Young Women's High Adventure trip this year. We stayed in a cabin in Tennessee and white water rafted down the Ocoee River.

Did I mention we got a little wet?

I just have to show him off!

I know my family and friends in Utah have already seen this, but I wanted to post it for my friends here in Kentucky.
This is my nephew Jaxton. He is so adorable and has the cutest laugh ever!

Oh how I miss that lil guy! Come see me soon Jax!

Florida

Meet Kada! She was one of my roommates my first couple years of college! She's awesome! I loved being her roommate because she made everything so much fun!
Another reason we all love Kada is because she got Wes and I into Disney World for free, hung out with us all weekend, and told us all of Disney's deep, dark secrets!

Of course we went to lots of shows.
These are Fantasmic, Star Wars, and a crazy-awesome car show!

Before Splash Mountain:

Enduring the incident:

After we got drenched:

This was a wakeboarding park. I've never seen these before, but people were getting pulled by these cables and did all kinds of tricks. Way cool!

Cocoa Beach
There were thousands and thousands of dead jellyfish washed up on the shore, not to mention the live ones swimming around in the water.
Good thing we only showed up for the beach walk!

Every time I saw a body of water, I searched for alligators (and I find myself still doing it). We saw this guy in a canal and pulled over to look at him. Then he swam towards us and stared us down with his eyeballs just above the water level, plotting his attack...
We left before the attack.

Texas

We went to Texas twice in May to attend the annual dental convention and scope out potential practices and neighborhoods.

The Texas Dental Convention is only like 5 times the size of Utah's!
It was huge! I seriously think my bag weighed at least 20 pounds when I was done collecting all the samples and goodies I could get my hands on!

The Riverwalk

The Alamo

I've never seen this before- it's like a parking garage for your boat!
A big tractor comes and gets it for you and puts it in the water when you want it.

Wes' parents met us in Dallas and we had such a great weekend with them! We drove around a lot! Susie likes the maps and Wes likes the iphone gps. They were the navigators while John drove and I took pics :) What a great team!

Georgia

Ok, I've sort of let my blog go. I haven't felt like our lives have been exciting enough to post, but I've been encouraged to update so here is an exciting trip we went on... almost 3 months ago:

Wes had an afternoon off so we drove down to Georgia and visited our good friends Chelsea and Doyle Johnson.

They showed us around Atlanta and Athens,
took us to some good, Southern BBQ (that Wes said was the best BBQ he had ever had),
introduced us to BOILED PEANUTS (which are better than they sound! We quite enjoyed them!),
and toured the Coca-Cola Factory with us!

The couch was from American Idol. Carrie Underwood sat on it!
There were so may original Coca-Cola merchandise there, including antique vending machines.
And it's crazy how much people seem to love coke!

The best part of the tour was the end when we got to try all the different coke products from all around the world. Our favorites were from China. They weren't as carbonated and were sweeter.
***TIP: if you ever go to Italy, DO NOT drink a beverage called Beverly!***

On the way home, we stopped at Tallulah Gorge to break up the drive and hike around "the largest canyon east of the Grand Canyon."
